New 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe

Big and brawny best describe the capable and well-made 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe full-size SUV.
Similar to the Chevy Suburban, the Tahoe receives the same updates for 2012 and is available in three trims: LS, LT and LTZ. The LT trim now has heated seats, while the LTZ boasts a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel and blind spot warning system. A 30 GB hard drive, navigation system, seven-inch touch-screen and USB port is available. Those who tow campers and other big items will like that electronic trailer-sway control and hill start assist are part of the standard electronic stability control system. Not only is the Tahoe a slightly smaller version of the Suburban, but it’s almost identical to the GMC Yukon. Competition in the full-size SUV segment includes the Ford Expedition, Nissan Armada and Dodge Durango.
Under the 2012 Chevy Tahoe’s hood lurks a 320-horsepower, 5.3-liter V-8 that generates 335 pounds-feet of torque. An E85 version produces 326 horsepower and 348 pounds-feet of torque. EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings are mediocre at 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and the Tahoe can tow up to 8,500 pounds when properly equipped. The two-wheel-drive version has a cast-iron block, while the four-wheel-drive Tahoe has an aluminum block. You can choose between a fuel-saving 3.08 axle ratio, or a heavy-duty 3.42 axle ratio. An optional integrated brake controller is a nice convenience for those who tow their toys on a regular basis.
The 2012 Chevy Tahoe has a comfortable interior with plenty of room. Utilize a front split bench seat and a second-row bench seat to push occupancy to nine. The 50/50 split rear bench can be removed, creating 109 cubic feet of cargo space, compared to nearly 17 cubic feet with it in. Most of the goodies are optional, and include power-adjustable pedals, leather seats, heated first and second row seats, cooled front seats, a Bose stereo, navigation system and rear-seat DVD entertainment system.
The exterior of the Tahoe is bold and boasts a roof rack, heated side mirrors and 17-inch wheels as standard equipment. Fog lights, a power sunroof, power running boards and 18- or 20-inch wheels are optional. The Z71 off-road package features a chrome front grille insert and color-keyed fender flares.
Safety comes standard in the 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe in the form of four-wheel-disc antilock brakes, an electronic stability system with rollover mitigation technology, side-impact airbags for the front seats and side curtain airbags. A backup camera and ultrasonic rear parking sensors are optional.
Enjoy the drive with your entire family and all of your toys in the capable 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe.

Chevy Tahoe Pillar Posts

The world has fewer full-size sport-utility vehicles these days--maybe a good thing--but one of the diehard survivors will be the Chevrolet Tahoe. Spun from the same running gear as GM's full-size pickup trucks and other big utes like the Cadillac Escalade, the Tahoe is the less lengthy companion to the likes of the Chevy Suburban. It's pitched as the traditionally strong performer in a crowd including the gas-powered utes like the Ford Expedition, Toyota Sequoia, and Nissan Armada. As a Hybrid, it takes on the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class with the clean BlueTEC diesel and the BMW X6 Hybrid, but more likely, GM's own Cadillac Escalade Hybrid and Yukon Hybrid.

The Tahoe nameplate arrived in the 1995 model year, replacing the Blazer badge and was teamed with a four-door model. Based on the big GM trucks, the Tahoe was powered in most cases by a big 5.7-liter V-8. A turbodiesel version found few applications and few buyers. In this generation, sold until the 1998 model year, GM added a driver-side airbag and a luxury-trim Limited package, which was sold in the 2000 model year. This version overlapped with the entirely new "GMT800" Chevy Tahoe, which was new for the 2000 model year.

Chevy Equinox Wood Grain

What makes the Equinox such a hit? It’s difficult to pinpoint, but it’s definitely one of the more attractive efforts in what used to be a yawn-inducing segment. It’s still one of the more memorable designs with its big headlights flanking a big Malibu-esque corporate grille; like a seven-eighths-scale Traverse. On the loaded LTZ tester we drove for a week, the nose also gets chrome brightwork around the air intakes and brushguards, side window line and mirrors, and 18-inch wheels.
The interior is equally stylish, with a dramatic dash that’s angled sharply away from the driver, giving the impression of more space in what’s already a pretty open cabin. The high-quality brushed-aluminum accents and soft trim that appears hand-stitched are offset by big plastic panels on the doors and console. The effect isn’t as noticeable on darker trim; our tester had the Light Titanium (i.e. pale grey) inserts, which amplifies our quality gripes.
At least it wears well – the Equinox is well-designed for kid-hauling duty, if only because the rear bench has eight inches of travel, keeping even the tallest toddlers from scuffing dirty boots on the front seat-backs. Empty nesters will appreciate having the seats pushed forward because it expands cargo space to a generous 31.4 cubic feet or 63.7 with it folded flat.
Those who drive the Equinox understand the possibilities the interior invites. They know it doesn’t just have to be a place where you sit down, turn the key, and roll off to the next destination. Nope. The cabin of this ride can be so much more. It can be an escape. An exclusive, charming cockpit where you feel at ease… Introducing Chevy Equinox Wood Grain. Perhaps no other custom upgrade makes the kind of impact Chevy Equinox Wood Dash Kits do. With our superior selection of genuine Real Woods, OEM Factory-Woods, Real Carbon Fiber, Aluminum, Chrome, and more, you get the idea why Chevy Equinox Wood Grain is such a high-profile option for so many. A fast and easy “stick on” application allows for an immediate upgrade. Unbelievable quality – each dash kit comes with a Lifetime Warranty! Don’t settle for anything less. You’re already on the right track. To get the most out of your Equinox, click on your Model Year above NOW!

2012 Chevrolet Orlando Review

Typically, the exceptions to the rule are vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz B-Class or Nissan X-Trail – compact utility vehicles that are fuel efficient and priced in the lower end of their segments.  With vehicle prices around 30% higher than the United States, and fuel prices beyond $5/gallon, Canadians tend to buy vehicles similar to those purchased by European consumers.
The Chevrolet Orlando is one such vehicle intended for world markets that will not make it to America, but will be sold in Canada thanks to its low prices, a small footprint and efficient 4-cylinder engine. According to GM Canada, American engineers wanted to include features like knee airbags to help the Orlando meet an obscure American crash test regulation, but the cost of this change would have made the venture unprofitable. Since the vehicle already met every other unified North American standard, it was an easy choice to sell it in Canada, where the Mazda5 enjoys brisk sales and a near monopoly on the small minivan market.

Chevy Tahoe Step Bars

If you don’t need the Chevrolet Tahoe’s big towing capacity, you’ll likely be better served by a minivan or crossover with a third row, like the Toyota Highlander. Not only does the Highlander start about $10,000 cheaper than the Tahoe, but it offers a hybrid model with fuel economy that’s even better than the Tahoe Hybrid’s, according to the EPA. For those who need the Tahoe’s rugged capabilities, the Ford Expedition is a good alternative. It can tow more than the Tahoe can, even in four-wheel drive models. Reviewers appreciate the Expedition’s third row, which is big enough for adults, and folds down into the floor rather than having to be removed the way the Tahoe’s does.

Chevrolet News

What do young shoppers want to see in a next car? The answers you get from one American 20-something to another may be almost polar opposite. And Chevrolet’s two small-car concepts shown at Detroit show reflect those varied expectations. Displaying the boxy, upright Code 130R next to its counterpart, the Tru 140S, is truly a yin-yang moment, even for those who know nothing about design.
The more organic, curvaceous, and rakish design of the two is the Tru 140S, a three-door coupe that’s somewhat reminiscent of the Hyundai Veloster and also aims to be “an attractive-yet-affordable sports car.” Appearing in matte-white with chrome wheels and crossflag Chevy emblems, it’s conceived as a sort of ‘mini exotic’ in design.
The front-wheel-drive 140S is based on the Chevrolet Cruze platform. It includes direct injection and engine start-stop, along with a 1.4-liter Turbo Ecotec four-cylinder engine, for a fuel-economy rating of about 40 mpg. Just as with the companion Code 130R Concept, the 140S is also intended as a budget-priced entry, starting in the low $20,000s range. Be sure to also read about GM’s other Chevrolet concept, the Code 130R. And to understand where these might fit into the automaker’s future, see our story on how Chevy hopes to take aim at a new generation of global small-car shoppers with these two concepts.
